Are you an experienced IT Project Manager with a knack for problem-solving and using your initiative? Have you got what it takes to join a dedicated and collaborative team, providing crucial support to the whole company? 

We currently have an opportunity for an IT Project Manager to join our Programme Delivery IT team based in Exeter. Joining us on a full-time permanent basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £47,000 - £57,500 per annum plus excellent benefits.

About the role

We are seeking a Project Manager to deliver IT implementations that enhance business and organisational outcomes. You will plan, execute, and close projects within strict deadlines and budgets, ensuring adherence to best practice governance principles and standards.

Your key responsibilities will include acquiring resources, coordinating team efforts, and managing third-party contractors. You will define project objectives, oversee quality control, and build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Collaborate closely with the Business Change Manager to support business changes and with the Corporate Applications Manager to ensure smooth transitions to live operations.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success criteria in collaboration with Programme Managers, and disseminate these criteria for agreement throughout the project life cycle.
  • Plan, schedule, and track project timelines, milestones, and deliverables, regularly liaising with team members and stakeholders to manage expectations and progress against time and budget targets.
  • Identify, manage, and resolve project risks and issues, conduct comprehensive project closedown, apply best practices for project governance, and communicate lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Estimate and secure necessary resources, draft and manage budget proposals, negotiate for required personnel, and determine additional staffing needs.
  • Lead software procurement activities, manage contract negotiations and associated issues, and build strategic partnerships for successful project delivery.
  • Direct and manage project delivery from beginning to end, develop full-scale project plans for various phases, and proactively manage scope changes, issues, and risks.
  • Delegate tasks, coach and mentor project team members, resolve any issues, and ensure accountability and positive action within the project team.
  • Develop and deliver project documentation and presentations, manage project dependencies and critical path, and build and grow essential business relationships.
  • What we are looking for:

  • Project Management experience and broad‐based IT and business experience, delivering diverse IT projects in a medium/large organisation to time and budget
  • Educated to degree level standard or able to demonstrate working to degree level, ideally PRINCE2 or similar
  • Ability to complete UK Government Security Clearance (SC) process successfully
  • Strong customer service orientation and initiative, taking ownership to ensure the effective resolution of questions, requests and issues by the appropriate team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, working with stakeholders at all levels and able to influence change without direct authority through collaboration, diplomacy and persuasiveness
  • Full UK driving licence
