We currently have a Mechanical Engineers position available for a motivated individual to join our team in Exeter.
Joining us on a full-time basis, you will receive a competitive salary of £34,368 - £40,729per annum plus excellent benefits. You will also receive overtime paid at x1.5 of your hourly rate and standby/callout payments.
You will also receive 23 days of annual leave, increasing by an additional day for each year of service provided up to a maximum of 27 days.
You will also receive an extra 13 days off as part of the Rota day system.
About the role:
As a Mechanical Engineer working at South West Water, you would be expected to carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance on our assets. You will be working as part of a highly skilled and experienced mobile team within the Exeter area and you will be provided with a van and tools to ensure you are able to provide a valuable service to South West Water.
What you’ll be doing:
· Carry out planned and reactive maintenance on South West Waters equipment.
· Respond to breakdowns as per business requirements and use your experience to repair/replace the defective equipment. This would include equipment such as but not limited to Motors, Gearboxes, Screens, Pumps, Chemical Dosing Systems, Valves and Hydraulic/Pneumatic systems.
· Work closely with operations to ensure that equipment is running efficiently. Identify any potential issues with equipment using and proactively plan in maintenance before asset failure occurs.
· Attend jobs as directed by your line manager to fault find, investigate and repair/replace.
· Through on the job learning you will become a valuable member of the M&E team and have the opportunity to help us provide a continuous resilient service by being a part of the Standby and Call out Rota.
· Manufacture parts and equipment to reduce the downtime of assets.

What we are looking for:
Essentials
· 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent) including Maths, English, and Science at grade C or above.
· Time served apprenticeship supported by relevant formal qualifications e.g. City and Guilds, Diploma, BTEC, ONC/HNC/HND
· Full UK Driving License
Desirables
· Water Industry knowledge
· CompEx 11 Qualification
· Knowledge of working with Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS)
· Have the ability to fault find utilising a structured and analytical approach through to the repair of complex and specialist items of mechanical equipment
