We currently have an opportunity available for two Building &Grounds Maintenance Operative roles to join our team based at Pynes WTW, Devon EX5 5EQ.

You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, subject to a successful 3-month probationary period being completed. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £25,274 per annum + excellent benefits.
To apply for this role, you must live within fifteen miles / 30 minutes travel of your base.
You will conduct a range of grounds maintenance activities at various sites across Drinking Water Services during spring, summer and early autumn. Out of the growing season your work may also include building maintenance activities. Both will come under the guidance of the Minor Works Team leader.
What you will be doing
Complete reactive and planned buildings and grounds maintenance work across SWW assets including, but not limited to:
Grass Cutting, Strimming, Tree Work (at ground level), Hedge Trimming
Path repairs and maintenance – gravel, concrete, slabs, step repairs and maintenance
Use powered plant and equipment, hand tools and chemicals
Woodwork & door furniture repairs and maintenance
Roof gutter repairs and maintenance
Painting and decorating
Accurate and timely feedback of activities completed
Adhere to schedules, business rules and procedures
Liaise with the Team Leader and Central Support Administrator to ensure that all work schedules are optimised
Assist in dealing with customer enquiries when directly approached in a calm and friendly manner and pass information to management when appropriate
Ensure all work is conducted with consideration of health and safety and in accordance with Safe Systems of Work
Ensure that all activities enhance the reputation and image of the company
What we are looking for
A full UK Driving Licence (to include classification BE) – – Essential
Experience of operating grounds maintenance machinery – Preferable but not essential
Experience of general building repairs & maintenance – Preferable but not essential
Experience of and understanding the importance of teamwork – Preferable
Ability to adhere to Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work
Knowledge of health & safety principles & working safely
A flexible approach to working hours to meet work demands
A “can do” attitude with a desire to learn from colleagues, in-house and online training modules, understand and adopt a flexible approach to support the business
A proficient level of maths and IT
