We’re looking for a motivated and proactive Safety & Compliance Officer to join our Waste Water Services team in the South West Region. If you’re passionate about safety, compliance and supporting operational excellence, this could be the opportunity for you.
In this important role, you will support the Regional Compliance and Safety Manager to ensure that Waste Water Services consistently meets all legal, regulatory and internal compliance requirements.
You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to plan, coordinate and record statutory and compliant activities, while also providing professional guidance on compliance processes. This position involves office and on site work including regular communication with both internal teams and external providers to ensure all compliance activities are delivered effectively and on schedule.
What You’ll Be Doing
Developing and delivering compliance programmes, including documentation and reporting
Working collaboratively with Technicians, Site Managers, Area Maintenance Managers and Schedulers to prevent compliance or legislative issues
Maintaining accurate compliance records by gathering test results, preparing reports and updating databases
Preparing compliance summaries and trend analyses for FLMs
Managing contractual support for legislative and compliance-driven engineering activities
Ensuring adherence to SWW policies and procedures relating to legislative and compliant engineering tasks
Supporting a range of administrative and statutory requirements including:
Crimson Action reports from statutory inspections (LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, COSHH)
Completion of Statutory Electrical inspection and remedials
Compliance with internal engineering rules
DSEAR compliance
Ownership of ISO & H&S maintenance-related actions
Relevant standards adherence and maintaining ongoing compliance
What We’re Looking For
ONC / City & Guilds in a relevant subject, NVQ Waste Water Process or Sewerage Control Level 2, or HNC / Water Diploma
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently when required
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
A technical mindset with the ability to analyse varied data sources to support decision-making
Confidence using MS Office and corporate computer systems
Excellent administrative and organisational skills
Experience with fault reporting and notification processes
Resilience in a fast-paced operational environment with the ability to adapt to change
Full UK Driving Licence
