We’re looking for a highly skilled Electrical Specialist to play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, efficient and technically robust electrical maintenance across our Waste Water Services operations. You’ll be regionally based, working from Devon or Cornwall and travelling across the South West to support our electrical teams and sites.
This is an exciting opportunity to use your expertise to influence regional standards, support our electrical workforce, and help drive continuous improvement across a critical service area.What you’ll be doing:
Provide technical authority, support and guidance to electrical field teams, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently and in line with best practice and legislation.
Lead on resolving complex electrical maintenance issues, acting as the escalation point for operational challenges.
Support our teams and managers with ATEX & DSEAR-related matters, including zone reclassification and compliance.
Oversee the development, governance and improvement of electrical safety documentation, Permit to Work processes, RA/MS and operating procedures.
Guide the management and transfer of control for LV and HV systems.
Conduct technical investigations into electrical incidents and make recommendations to prevent reoccurrence.
Represent the function at industry working groups, engineering design discussions and procurement processes.
Maintain and improve systems relating to LOTOTO, electrical safety governance, and staff competency development.
Play a key role in the development and training of CP/AP roles and wider electrical competency frameworks.
What we are looking for:
You will bring strong technical capability alongside a collaborative, safety-focused mindset. Specifically, we’re looking for someone with:
Advanced electrical maintenance and fault-finding capability.
Robust electrical engineering knowledge, including safety, compliance, and relevant legislation.
Strong understanding of operational processes and risk control.
Ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Excellent communication, influencing and decision-making skills.
A proactive, analytical and improvement-focused approach.
Confidence to challenge and advocate for high safety standards.
Essential Qualifications
Time-served apprenticeship with supporting electrical qualifications (e.g., ONC, City & Guilds, EAL, BTEC).
HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
Low Voltage AP competencies.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Degree-level engineering qualification.
IET Incorporated Engineer status (or working towards).
18th Edition (Amendment 2).
C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing.
CompEx (Ex12/Ex14) – or ability to achieve within 12 months.
High Voltage competencies.
IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications.
