Finance Systems & Reporting Assistant – Exeter

Are you a detail-oriented finance professional with a passion for systems, data, and continuous improvement? At South West Water, we’re looking for a Finance Systems & Reporting Assistant to join our dynamic finance team in Exeter.
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and enhancing our financial reporting systems while supporting data-driven decision-making across the organisation.
Opportunity Overview
Location: Exeter
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum + excellent benefits
About the Role
As an integral member of the finance team, you will combine technical expertise with strong problem-solving skills to support and enhance financial reporting systems. You’ll work collaboratively across teams, driving improvements that increase efficiency, reduce manual processes, and deliver high-quality insights.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting & Data Management:
Prepare, maintain, and enhance daily financial reports and data extracts to support business operations.Systems Administration:
Manage and maintain core finance systems including Infor dEPM, SSRS, SAP, NAV, and Ellipse.Period-End Support:
Support month-end and year-end processes, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of financial reporting.Report Development:
Assist in developing and improving Power BI dashboards, SQL scripts, and Infor BI reports.Financial Modelling:
Build and maintain models within Infor dEPM to support both strategic and operational reporting.Systems Analysis & Optimisation:
Analyse and enhance finance systems, improving performance and functionality.Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with finance and business teams to gather requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.Process Improvement & Automation:
Identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual effort, and improve efficiency.Ad-Hoc Support:
Provide responsive reporting and system support to the Financial Control team and wider business.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is proactive, analytical, and eager to make an impact. You’ll bring:
Experience with reporting tools such as Power BI, SQL, and Infor dEPM
An AAT qualification (full or part-qualified)
Strong understanding of financial principles
Intermediate Excel and SQL skills
Excellent attention to detail and a solution-focused mindset
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams
