About the role
We are seeking an experienced OT (Operational Technology) Analyst to join our Group IT function, supporting the availability, reliability and security of critical Operational Technology (OT) platforms across the business.
In this specialist role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring OT services—particularly SCADA, and Telemetry related platforms—are fully serviceable and resilient. You’ll manage incidents, problems, changes and releases, taking ownership and working closely with internal teams and third‑party suppliers to meet service level expectations.
The role is varied, combining technical troubleshooting with planning, systems improvement, and collaboration with operational stakeholders. You’ll also support routine upgrades, oversee the implementation of new SCADA functionality and technologies, and participate in an out‑of‑hours standby rota to support 24/7 service availability.
Key responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
Help develop detailed plans for SCADA upgrades and implementations.
Design and architect application and infrastructure environments to support OT platforms.
Establish and implement OT security policies, procedures, technologies and standards.
Acquisition & Deployment
Work with internal teams and external suppliers to deliver OT services and solutions.
Research emerging OT products, services, standards and protocols to support critical services.
Undertake software releases, patching and rollouts in line with change, security and release management best practice.
Operational Management
Provide timely second‑line support for escalated incidents, including onsite diagnosis and resolution of complex issues.
Collaborate with network, application, database and security teams in response to incidents, problems and changes.
Plan and deliver SCADA and OT client/server upgrades, patches and maintenance fixes.
Standardise SCADA configuration and deployment.
Monitor system performance, producing reports and operational statistics.
Recommend and implement system improvements to enhance security, reliability, efficiency and performance.
Administer SCADA services using appropriate system administration tools.
Develop and maintain technical documentation and user training materials.
Ensure compliance with information security policies and governance requirements.
Attend relevant training, seminars, conferences and trade shows to maintain expertise.
Participate in a standby rota to support OT services 24x7.
About you
Essential
Extensive experience delivering IT and OT services within a medium to large organisation.
Proven experience managing SCADA, process control and telemetry technologies.
Strong working knowledge of ITIL and PRINCE2 (or equivalent governance frameworks).
Experience supporting RedHat Linux and Windows client and server environments.
A proactive approach to health, safety and wellbeing.
Strong customer service mindset with end‑to‑end ownership of issues.
Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to exercise initiative and make sound recommendations.
Resilient, adaptable and comfortable working in a changing environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly.
Ability to understand business context quickly and develop strong stakeholder relationships.
Commitment to information security best practice.
Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
Degree‑level education or equivalent professional experience.
ITIL Foundation certification.
Relevant ICS or OT‑specific qualifications or training.
Understanding of drinking water and wastewater processes.
Familiarity with information security standards and IT governance frameworks.
Ability to successfully complete UK Government Security Clearance (SC).
