Health, Safety, Security and Assurance

What we do

Every day is different for our Health, Safety, Security and Assurance teams. Driven by their ambition to be one of our sector’s health and safety leaders by 2025, we look to this department to set the strategic direction for health and safety at South West Water. Interpreting legislation, managing risk and meeting business challenges is certainly no mean feat – but this team enjoys plenty of fun along the way too.

Not only do they enable us to deliver water to people across the South West, it’s also down to our Health, Safety, Security and Assurance teams to ensure that our people are safe at work – enriching their physical and mental wellbeing wherever possible. Whether you’re experienced or just starting out, if you’re a people-person who loves solving problems, dive in. This is your opportunity to help make great things happen every day while enjoying support, progression and building a career somewhere that cares as much as you.

Meet the team

Elizabeth
Occupational Health Adviser

“I enjoy my role as it’s very varied and no two days are the same. I get to meet a range of people across the business and am able to use my nursing qualification to support my colleagues’ health within the workplace. I’m particularly proud of my work during the pandemic. I had to quickly get up to speed with COVID and the ever-changing medical evidence and government advice, and how it related to the workplace, on top of my usual role.”

Danny
HSSA Strategy and Performance Manager

“I wanted to join an organisation that makes a difference and South West Water does exactly that – by delivering clean water to customers while maintaining our beaches and rivers. I enjoy being part of a highly-driven and motivated team. Having previously served in the British Army, I’m used to working with people towards a common goal. At South West Water, we move forward together, even in the face of adversity. Creating Health and Safety strategies that drive engagement and best practice can be challenging but our fantastic team enables us to facilitate improvement.”

Rebecca
Health, Safety, Security and Assurance Advisor

“Our no.1 goal is making sure everyone gets home safe at the end of the day. I really enjoy helping people resolve safety issues and helping make my colleagues’ working days a little easier. Getting involved in projects and working groups is great because of the collaborative work involved. It’s always good to learn about other parts of the business to improve my own knowledge and see what positive steps people are taking to stay safe. My colleagues are great to work with and are always willing to help one another out.”

Life on site
